Miles is a workplace relations advocate with more than eight years of appearances in industrial and discrimination commissions and tribunals throughout the east coast of Australia.

In this capacity he has provided advice to publicly listed companies, Small to Medium Enterprises (SME's), Employer Associations, Unions and Individuals.

His specialist areas include managing industrial disputes (collective and individual), performance management, re-instatement applications, applications for unpaid wages, award compliance, assessments and auditing and litigation.

Miles also heads the Occupational Health and Safety Compliance Team, ensuring the effective induction and implementation of safe work systems for employees, contractors and visitors. He also advises property owners of strategies to reduce their exposure to public liability claims resulting from injuries or events taking place in registered workplaces.

Since commencing in private practice in 2000, Miles has advised, amongst others, National and State Managers of Fosters Group, AXA Asia Pacific, Bond University Academic Staff Association, Capral Aluminium, The Grape Group, The Greek Orthodox Community of St George, Jetstar Airways and Minerva Consulting, at times reporting directly to the board of directors. In addition to these, he is the principal representative of many clients who take advantage of our outsourced human resources product.

Prior to commencing in private practice, Miles was employed in Senior Human Resources Management roles including the Training Manager (Australia and New Zealand) and Brisbane Human Resources Manager for Accor Asia Pacific Hotels and Resorts (AAPC Limited). He also served as the Senior Deputy Chair of Tourism Training Queensland for three years from 1999. He has also tutored and guest lectured undergraduate and post-graduate university students.



Scott Cornwell

Scott leads the OHS&E team for The Employment Advisor. As a consultant for over eight years in private practice, he is a highly respected advisor with experience throughout each state and territory in Australia. Scott advises some of the country's leading manufacturing, aviation and logistics industries. He is familiar with the legislative context in each state and advises client's of their discreet differences.



Christy Fejer

Prior to becoming a consultant with The Employment Advisor, Christy was an inspector with WorkSafe Victoria and an experienced OHS&E professional. Christy's technical knowledge and implementation of highly complicated OHS&E science and hygiene requirements into plain English and deliverable outcomes is one of her key attributes.

Christy has and currently advised some of the country's leading entities including Coles Myer, the Qantas Group, Capral Aluminium. She has been a panellist with Standards Australia and is one of the country's leading authorities of chemical contamination and hygiene.



Vivienne Van Der Laak LLB BBSc(Psych)

Vivienne joined TEA as an associate in September 2004 as part of our graduate program.

Since joining the company Vivienne has been heavily involved in industrial commission advocacy, management of workers compensation claims, audit investigations and reporting and research.

Prior to joining the Employment Advisor, Vivienne completed work experience at McCullough Robertson Lawyers in the corporate compliance area. She has also worked in the office of the department of public prosecutions (DPP) in Alice Springs and most recently Vivienne has provided services to the Queensland Hotels Association Employee Relations Division.

Vivienne is a talented researcher and is principally engaged in a generalist role with a focus on industrial commission advocacy, workers compensation and occupational health and safety compliance.



Georgia Murphy

Georgia has over 16 years experience in human resources, organisational development and employment relations. Her range of experience encompasses the manufacturing, service and education sectors.

Georgia has advised publicly listed companies and SME's on a range of organisational development and workplace issues. She has represented both employers and employees in various industrial disputes and re-instatement claims.

Georgia's involvement in the creation and development of prestigious private education providers has earned her respect and industry awards at a state and national level.

She is currently working on her PhD determining the role of employment relations services accessibility for employees considering the changing nature for support for unionism.

Georgia is currently on an international assignment and is on leave until February 2005, however is available for the preparation of written submission as required.



Ryan Seymour B.Bus (Man/Acc) B.IT (Current)
Associate

Ryan is a recently appointed associate, having joined TEA as part of our graduate program. Ryan's vast background includes risk management and assessment, occupational health and safety with a primary focus within industrial organisations.

Ryan's initial training is focusing on further development his skills to enable vast participation in occupational health and safety. He is currently a trainee auditor with a significant aptitude for systems and process.

Ryan offers the business vast hands-on experience with the ability to analyse and monitor performance in all areas of business activity.



Paul Saunders
Psychologist

Paul is a registered psychologist and business consultant who is a highly regarded facilitator and conference presenter and specialises in change management, team development, sales performance, leadership coaching, and personal development.

He has had twenty years experience in the development of people in both the government and private sector.

Paul has worked as a Psychologist and Organisational Consultant for a number of organisations and individuals where his major role has been leadership and management development; team development; business coaching; sales training; and organisational change management. These services have become an integral part of the successful operation of these organisations during times of high growth and change.

Paul commenced his career in the Justice Department in Victoria where he learnt the basic fundamentals of human behaviour, group dynamics, organisational behaviour and the many ways you can break into a car!

Paul left the Justice Department in 1990 to set up his own consultancy business and has worked for international and national organisations, Franchise companies, government bodies, and family businesses.

David Rogers

David is The Employment Advisor's resident solicitor. Under a licensing arrangement with Nathan Lawyers, David provides legal advice with a primary focus on contractual and privilege issues.

David has experience as Corporate Counsel and Technology Lawyer for Telstra. Prior to work as an internal lawyer in both the Canberra and Sydney, David was employed by Phillips Fox's Brisbane office. He is a contract law specialist and ensures our client's interests are at all times protected in Deeds of Release and Settlement, employment contracts and Memorandum of Understandings.

David has prepared agreements, service proposals and contracts for the Telstra Corporation Limited and Telstra Enterprise Services Pty Limited. David gained further experience in the United Kingdom acting as a Property Lawyer. This included the negotiation of leases and the preparation of licenses.

David has provided advice to business in relation to various legal issues spanning trade practices, intellectual property, contractual relations, privacy, termination rights, process contracts, and the interpretation and analysis of parties' rights and obligations under existing contracts.

He has also conducted and facilitated training sessions on legal, contractual and legislative issues with national companies. David is not employed with us as a solicitor which ensures he can give make representations in all industrial and anti-discrimination commissions and tribunals, which restrict the access of legally qualified personnel.



Matthew Stapleton
Commercial & Litigation Partner

Matthew is the managing partner and also the head of the litigation division. He is experienced in instigating and defending disputes arising from trade practices, confidential information, breaches of fiduciary care and injunctive orders.
